Waterfall, Brazil 1996 |
While on a trip to Brazil, I had wanted to get up close and personal with the toucan, the colorful and absurdly constructed bird that inhabits the jungles there. After hours of tramping through the tangled forest, the toucan bird decided not to make an appearance. I was somewhat disappointed at this turn of events. But just as we beat our way out of the brush, I saw this tremendous waterfall appear like a cool dream. The roar of the water flowing into the pool below and the presence of spawning fish leaping toward their birthplace moved me to action. After taking some long exposures to capture the motion of the waterfall, I refreshed myself by taking a swim in the pool. The water was perfectly chilled, like a fine wine. And I was intoxicated with its beauty. |
