Tree in Car, New Zealand 1990 |
| On our last trip to New Zealand, my wife Laurence and I were driving south on the South Island, breezing through some beautiful, lush countryside in our rented Mitsubishi motor home. Somewhere between Dunedin and Invercargill. I saw it out of the corner of my eye at 70 miles an hour. A tree growing out of the old junk heap of a car. I slammed on the brakes, got out of the vehicle, took a few quick shots, and that was the end of it. Until I returned home to Memphis and began editing. There was the tree growing out of the car. I smiled and realized that something called magic lived on the South Island of New Zealand. |
