Roosters, Thailand 1994 |
| While in Thailand, my guide Sawang was patiently teaching me the philosophies and beliefs of Buddhism. In Thailand, one of the rites of passage for every man is to live as a Buddhist monk for three months. This is part of their life education. In order to teach me more about the ancient religion, Sawang took me to the monk who had instructed him during his monastic stint. As I was discussing the disciplines of Buddhism with Sawang's mentor, about a dozen roosters started to fight and cackle very loudly. I couldn't hear what the wise man was saying above all of the noise, so I took my camera and shot some photographs of them. The roosters soon scattered, but not before I could get some vibrant photographs of these jungle fowl. |
