Pig in the Garden, Brazil 1996

While working in Brazil shooting animals of the Pantanal for an exhibition in my hometown, I wandered up on this cute little pig who was foraging in the garden of my hotel. For a while, I forgot all about the exotic birds I had planned to shoot that day. He proved to be both illusive and sociable.

As my guide prepared the boat at the dock for our excursion on the river, I chased the pig through the garden for what must have been 30 minutes. I wanted to get closer. But he would have none of it. So I kept my distance, hunkered down in the grass and shot with my telephoto 180mm lens, which proved to be a pleasing solution.
