Kids on the Beach, 1994

It's not often I've been able to unwrap the innocence of youth with my camera. But then it's not often that my little girl takes her clothes off in a public place.

It happened on a typical Florida vacation. Mid-summer, hot, breezy. My wife and I were lounging around with our two best friends on the shimmering sand at Destin Beach. Taylor, my daughter, and Shea, who belonged to our friends, were doing the beach baby thing. Digging in the sand, screaming at the breaking waves, giggling at running crabs. When I looked up at Taylor, I noticed the two of them had stripped, both seeming to lose their inhibitions (and their clothes) simultaneously.

As usual, my camera was nearby and it was quite a simple task to capture the "bare" elements of the scene. Unfortunately, this version of the photograph ended up with a client who decided to clothe the children electronically.
